Abstract

Apoptosis is a process of programmed cell death that plays a critical role in some normal and pathologic conditions beginning from embryologic development and ends at death. Apoptosis in initiated by morphological changes at the cell membrane, surface organels and nucleus. This review deals with the general aspects of apoptosis and provides some information on its role in some diseases like AIDS, lung cancer and auto-immune disorders.
