Abstract
In this article we discussed systematically the topics to be learned and practiced during the training peri - od to become an ideal “Thoracic Surgeon” in our country.
It is remarkable that only 58% of the training period is spent in the “Thoracic Surgery” department be - cause of mandatory rotations and yearly vacation periods. Such a limited educational time is not enough for a surgical branch.
Also, it was discussed how could the senior surgeons, who were responsible for educating thoracic sur - gery residents supervise and assess the surgical education. As a result, a standart education model for tho - racic surgery residents was created with the aim of national standardization. This kind of reports should be elaborated with discussions and criticism by the relevant societes. In this way, “Thoracic Surgeons” with a certain level of education could be trained regardless of their training institutions.
