Abstract
Psychogenic cough is a diagnosis of exclusion of other causes of chronic cough. Terms of “habit cough” or “tic cough” have been equated with psychogenic cough. All of the studies on psychogenic cough is based on case reports or case series and no controlled studies existed. For this reason, although history reveals some outstanding features, none of them are discriminating. Suggestion therapy, self-hypnoses and speech therapy are the main therapeutic options for treatment of psychogenic cough.
