Abstract
The rate of cardiac involvement of Echinoccocus granulosus is 0.02–2% and although less frequently seen, involvement of the interatrial septum has also been reported in the literature [1,2,3]. Our case was a 19-years-old male student from the faculty of veterinary medecine. He admitted to the hospital with the complaints of headache and dizziness. A cystic mass had been diagnosed at the frontal region on computed cranial tomography and enucleation of the cyst was performed. Postoperative examinations revealed a cystic lesion with dimensions of 5x4 cm at the interatrial septum on transthoracic echocardiography. The patient was reffered to our institution. An open heart surgery was performed and the hydatid cyst which involved the interatrial septum was enucluated and cyst wall was sutured on the interatrial septum. No postoperative complication was seen. The case was discharged with albendazole treatment at the fifth day
