Abstract

Objectives:

This study aim to analyze pulmonary function test (PFT) findings of patients with bronchiectasis.
 

Methods:

Sixty-four patients were included which admitted to pulmonary disease outpatient clinic between January 2017 to January 2019. PFT findings records were analyzed retrospectively.
 

Results:

Male gender of patient was 54.7% (n=35), mean age was 50.9±16.9 years. The percentage of patients with normal BMI was the most common (39.1% (n=25)) and morbid obese patiets were at least (4.7%(n=3)).
 

Conclusion:

Bronchiectasis is one of the obstructive pulmonary diseases related to diffuse and irreversible destructive dilatation in bronchus or bronchioles. This study have revealed that bronchiectasis not only effect large airways but also small airways. BMI of patients with bronchiectasis usually low but our results make something interesting were different than these. Other than FEV1 and FEV1/FVC ratio the PFT parameters should be considered in treatment manegement of patients with bronchiectasis.
