Abstract

Abstract

The effective treatment of tuberculosis prevention against contagious nature of disease, BCG vaccination and chemoprophylaxis are the methods commonly used for prevention of tuberculosis. This article deals with these issues excluding treatment. Although the BCG is the most discussed vaccine all around the world, it is still in routine application in our country. The risk groups which chemoprophylaxis is recommended and the prevalence of tuberculosis in these groups are the hot topics for investigation. According to a recent approach, tuberculosis is an occupational disease among health care workers and prevention from nosocomial infection has became more important. In our article, the indications, applications, effectiveness and safety of these methods are evaluated in detail.
