Abstract

Malignant melanoma, which is formed by malignant transformation of melanocytes, metastasizes to pulmonary tissue via tumor embolies reaching the pulmonary arteries. Since only a limited number of cases have been reported in the literature, we present two cases of malignant melanoma with endobronchial lung metastases. The first case was a 31-year-old man with malignant melanoma,and brain, bone, and stomach metastases. His lung x-ray revealed nodular opacities, and a biopsy taken from the bronchial mucosal lesion during bronchoscopy was diagnosed as malignant melanoma. Despite chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy, he died 6 months after the diagnosis of endobronchial metastasis. The second case was a 70-year-old man with hemoptysis who was previously diagnosed as malignant melanoma. His lung x-ray revealed a nodular opacity and a biopsy taken from the bronchial mucosal lesion during bronchoscopy was diagnosed as malignant melanoma. Chemotherapy was started, however, since the patient failed to attend for control visits, he could only be followed up for 12 months after chemotherapy.
