Abstract

A retained surgical swab is a rare but an an important complication of intrathoracic surgery. Surgical swab causes granulomatous reaction which causes a large mass image. This is named gossypiboma (textiloma,cottonoid). A case who was underwent paravertebral abcess drainage for tuberculosis at another center six years ago was discussed because of a forgotten intrathoracic swab in the light of literature.
