Abstract

Abstract

Inhalation of heroin is known to cause eosinophilic pneumonia. We report a case of a patient who, after repeated inhalation of heroin, presented with restrictive lung disease, diffuse pulmonary infiltrates, and peripheric eosinophilia. Eosinophilic pneumonia was diagnosed by transbronchial biopsy. Rapid remission was obtained after heroin abstinence and initiation of corticosteroid treatment and no recurrence was seen. In this way, drug induced eosinophilic pneumonia was diagnosed.
