Abstract

Abstract

Today, physicians caring for the adults can be confronted with congenital malformations of the lower respiratory tract. Such patients can be diagnosed and surgically treated in childhood or diagnosed and conservatively treated in childhood or diagnosed in adulthood coincidentally or because of complications. In this article, among such congenital abnormalities, tracheoesophageal fistula, congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation, pulmonary sequestration, congenital lobar emphysema, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, primary ciliary dyskinesia and bronchopulmonary dysplasia are summarized and the importance of the cooperation between physicians caring for adults and children in the diagnosis and management of such patients is emphasized.
